An Insecure Love

Trust should be a major foundation for any relationship. Yet because of love and time invested in situations we somethings allow ourselves to suffer through.
Issues of love are never as simple as to just walk away, sometimes we can be guilty of overthinking every little thing and other times we have legitimate reason for concern.
I always say follow your heart but never forget your head in the process.

Who He Really Is

London is the city of firm faces, you can be on a commute to work and not see a friendly face in sight . I was on the tube and a man was sat opposite me, face like a brick wall. You could tell he was a businessman, nice tailor fitted suit and clean shoes. He didn't look approachable, not in the slightest. I could imagine him being the mean boss in a work place, all status no empathy. So I got up as we approached my stop and so did he. As we walked towards the escalator he had his Oyster card at hand. He tapped out and was greeted by a beautiful young woman and the smile I saw on his face was refreshing. That stern business man from the tube had blossomed when he saw his lady. They exchanged pleasantries, he loosened his tie and put his arm around her tight. She clung to him and was staring up at him in awe.

I hope you enjoy my next piece.

Besotted

To be impressed by someone has a really wonderful sensation attached to it. In the dictionary to impress is defined as being in admiration of something and to have respect for it. It is all about making an impact or a mark on something or on someone.
Now I'm a major major lover of Jill Scott! She is a woman who has a way with words and uses her music in such a brilliant way. Just fantastic.
She has a song called 'Cross my mind', the majority of it is in a spoken fashion but the way she describes the man is so interesting.
So that particular track inspired me to write this. About a man who is beyond basic but instead is alluring. A man worth knowing. A man that interests and capture my very being.

Confirmation

Funniest thing happened two days ago. I was waiting for the train at Kings Cross and anyone that knows anything about London Underground knows that peak time is horrid. So many people in such a small amount of space. It's not nice.
While waiting for the next train I turned around and to my left a man caught my eye. He resembled my ex so much and for a split second I had a mini confuse fit. I didn't know whether to smile, ignore, talk or frown. It was a weird feeling. Unsettling.
It inspired this next piece.

Too Late

"You remind me of myself when I was a few years younger" the old man said as he laughed and sat down. He then sighed out loud and looked up at the young man who just offered his seat to him.
I have a love/hate relationship with the tube. On one hand I love being lost in my trail of thought, also the fact I avoid traffic and save sooooo much time helps too. But I hate the horrid odour that oozes off of bodies screaming 'shower me', or the sudden blast you're hit with when someone on a packed train feels it's an appropriate time to let out some gas. I hate the heat in the tube during the summer and being forced to stand underneath a sweaty armpit when it's packed. Nice.
Today the tube was packed but not too packed and I love our lovely custom of offering our seats up to the elderly or the pregnant. Gives me hope for humanity.
So this strapping blonde young man got up for this elderly man to sit down, after their funny exchange of dialogue the old man just started at him. Then he looked away. I saw pain in his eyes. And without saying a word to me I felt like I could understand what was wrong. He would look down and then sneak a look at the young man and then look down again. He inspired me to write this. I may be wrong but that's the beauty with perception I'm entitled to one.

In One Breath

Hello beautiful people!

So I've been emailed and messaged a few times by people who are interested in  the motivation behind my poems.
Now I know reading them you probably think I'm a major hopeless romantic who has lived a life full of heartbreak! Just to explain further these poems are not just inspired by my personal experiences but it can range from other people's stories to music, to books. This is where the beauty of poetry lies, it's an outpouring of sentiment. A reaction to something....

So as I mentioned above I was asked to talk about some of the stories behind my pieces which I will start doing for some of them.

This piece is about a lovely young woman who I know and love, who is in a relationship she knows isn't right for her. Although she knows she needs to walk away, although she plucks up some courage when it comes down to it she still wants him to just love her. To prove her heart right that somewhere within he loves her. Many people get wrapped up in situations like this and don't know what to do next...so much has been invested that you are in too deep... It's a war of heart and head.

Enjoy x
